That first brew hit me with a wave of sweet umami that lingered nicely on the tongue, exactly as the “rich green” name suggests. It’s lively and bright without any bitterness, even when I let it steep a touch too long. I’ve already ordered a second bag.
The color is this gorgeous, lively green the moment it hits the water, and the sweetness balances the umami perfectly. I usually drink gyokuro, but this lower-elevation shincha has a brightness that feels more approachable for everyday sipping. Finished the bag way faster than I expected.
This year’s batch is so lively and bright, it practically tastes like early summer in a cup. That rich green character really delivers on the “umami balanced with sweetness” promise, and the finish is clean without any bitterness.
