This Tokoname kyusu is ideal for brewing sencha, gyokuro, and essentially any Japanese tea, with a smaller size clay mesh to strain out tea, perfect for brewing deeper steamed teas.
Brewed my first pot of gyokuro this morning and the finer mesh caught every bit of the deep-steamed leaves, so the cup came out brilliantly clear. The pour is smooth and controlled, exactly what I wanted for those slow, careful sessions.
The mesh on this one really does its job—even with deep-steamed sencha, the cup comes out clean with no stray leaves. It’s become my go-to for gyokuro, and the clay seems to keep the temperature just right.
